Great family outing that seeks to recreate mostly European influence in populating Wisconsin. Staff and volunteers in period attire help the visitors learn and enjoy. The day we visited, hogs were being butchered outdoors in one part of the facility for demonstration. If you get tired, trolleys will transport you to different destinations within. On site restaurant and gift shop. If you or your family are sensitive to such things as hogs being slaughtered, read the information on their public demonstrations and avoid the one(s) that are hard on your sensibilities.

I like OWW a lot. Get the WI Historical Society family pass. It's $65 if you watch for a deal (85 otherwise). There are many cool things to do in WI for basically the price of gas. OWW would get 5 stars except I wish they'd have more fun and diversity in their presentations.

Very neat historical villages. Make sure to bring water bottles. A lot of walking, but have a tram system too. Could use more people showing different tasks throughout. Highlights are the schoolhouse, the blacksmith and general store, and gathering eggs in the German village. Learned a lot. Very kids friendly. Exploring was encouraged. Could use a few more buildings with air conditioning for those that need a break from the heat.

This place was fun. Well worth the drive and admission price. The story tellers were great. Getting around on a Tram was a wonderful welcome idea. I learned so much and had a lot of fun. The food available is very high school cafeteria...I would plan to bring my own food next time or eat before you go.

Wonderful trip back in time to 1860 Wisconsin. Costumed interpreters share info on former residents of the restored buildings. Open shuttles take you to various villages or you may walk the entire area. They have a cafe or bring a picnic lunch, you can return to your car to get it and eat at the big red barn. Lots of hands on opportunies like period games to play, wash clothes and gather eggs. Excellent family activity, but kids are not required.
